Bancroft is the retail and service hub for North Hastings. Nestled snugly in the York River valley for 150 years, with the magnificent Eagles Nest rock face towering above it, Bancroft has a trade area of almost 15,000 people that expands to 45,000 from spring until fall.  With the nearest larger centres, Peterborough and Belleville, more than one hour away, Bancroft has a captured market that local entrepreneurs are capitalizing on. Bancroft is internationally recognized as the “Mineral Capital of Canada” and home of the annual Rockhound Gemboree, a festival on the Civic Holiday weekend in August that celebrates our unique mineral assets.
