The area is well known for its natural beauty. It is also one of the most mineral rich areas in the world - its largest town, Bancroft, is known as the Mineral Capital of Canada. But the area is becoming increasingly known for its rich deposit of creative talent. In 2004, Bancroft and surrounding area won a TV Ontario contest capturing the title of "Most Talented Town in Ontario".
